The house was originally a Victorian Gentlemans family home and the ground and first floor family rooms would have been serviced by a cook, scullery maid and at least two other servants. The servants work-rooms and stores were in the basement and they would have lived in in the attic floor. The original owners may have had a pony and trap, and so may have also employed a groom/handyman. The family rooms have ornate skirtings and plaster ceiling mouldings but now central heating and en-suite bathrooms have been introduced and, of course, the original gas lighting is replaced with electricity. Some of the servants call-bell system, wires and pulleys, are still beneath the floor boards. Most of the coal fired fire-places, especially in the bedrooms, have long since been bricked up but are preserved in the Lounge and Dining Room together with their original marble surrounds. Crystal chandeliers have now been added to further enhance the elegance of Victorian splendor. The large span bridge over the Dee led to the development of high class houses on this side of the river, plus the new wide road leading to North Wales and the coast.
